Bring the taste of Jamaican Christmas to your home any time of year with this traditional sorrel drink concentrate. Made from dried sorrel (hibiscus) sepals steeped with fresh ginger, whole cloves, cinnamon sticks, and a touch of orange peel, this concentrate captures the tangy, spicy, slightly sweet flavor that Jamaicans have enjoyed for generations. Our recipe comes from Mrs. Ivy Campbell of Chapelton, who has been making sorrel for church functions and family gatherings for over 50 years. Simply dilute with water to taste—we recommend starting with a 1:3 ratio of concentrate to water—add sugar or sweetener if desired, and serve over ice for a refreshing beverage. For an adult version, splash in some white rum or red wine as is traditional during the holiday season. This 750ml bottle makes approximately 2 liters of ready-to-drink sorrel. No artificial colors or flavors; the deep ruby red color comes entirely from the natural sorrel flowers. Refrigerate after opening.
