Command your pieces on this magnificent hand-carved mahogany chess set, a remarkable vintage find dating from approximately 1965. Crafted during the golden age of Jamaican woodworking, the set features Staunton-style pieces carved from richly figured Jamaican mahogany with exceptional attention to detail—note the delicate cross-hatching on the knights' manes and the finely turned finials on kings and queens. The king stands 9cm tall, with other pieces proportionally sized for elegant gameplay. The opposing army is carved from the pale sapwood of the same mahogany tree, creating a beautiful natural contrast. The board is not included but pieces fit standard boards with 5cm squares. Despite its age, all 32 pieces are present and intact with only minor wear consistent with careful use over the decades. The original felt bases have been replaced with new green felt for quiet, scratch-free play. A rare collector's piece that's still ready to play—combine the pleasure of chess with the satisfaction of owning a piece of Jamaican craft history.
